N
Richard Bernstein

Richard Bernstein, is a long-time friend of the East Ramapo Teachers’ Center. As a reading teacher at Elmwood School, Rich has created a learning environment that supports balanced literacy for his students. In addition, he continues to support teachers in their balanced literacy efforts through our Teachers’ Center.

Prior to being at Elmwood School, Rich was a reading teacher at the Ramapo Freshman Center, and previously to that he taught reading at Chestnut Ridge Middle School. He brings his experience on both the elementary and secondary level to the Teachers’ Center course he has created and offered. The course, A Diagnostic Prescriptive Approach to Reading Instruction, is a “learning lab” course that incorporates working with students in an after-school setting.

Rich has also conducted technology workshops for the Teachers’ Center, including several technology workshops for new teachers, demonstrating how technology can be utilized in their classrooms. As a continuous learner himself, Rich has also participated in Teachers’ Center programs and most recently completed a Masters in Educational Leadership at the Center, leading to SAS certification.

For his willingness to share his expertise and for his support of the Teachers’ Center and our programs, Rich has earned our “Good Apple Award.”

Congratulations, Rich!
