Andrew Chalfin
Andrew (Andy) Chalfin, special education teacher at Colton Elementary School, is our latest Good Apple Award recipient.
For several years now, Andy has been eager to share his technology integration “know-how” with colleagues through the Teachers’ Center. His courses, Infusing the Internet into the Curriculum – Part I and Infusing the Internet into the Curriculum – Part II, have received rave reviews and the Center has had to open a second session of each for the past two semesters. In addition to these courses, Andy has been an instructor for our technology workshops for new teachers.
This year, Andy also willingly volunteered to be trained as a Thinkfinity instructor for the Teachers’ Center, and as the Center’s SmartBoard Resource Teacher for his building. As a result of his training he has incorporated both Thinkfinity and the SmartBoard (a powerful union) into his courses, and is available to assist colleagues. He is currently working on a new course for the fall semester with Erin Higgins (ER Instructional Technology), which will bring several technology integration tools together to promote learning from your classroom and from anywhere around the world. Stay tuned!
Besides sharing his expertise for the Teachers’ Center technology programs, Andy too, is a frequent participant in the Center’s grant programs. For the 2007-08 school year, Andy submitted a Parent Participation Grant and was awarded $1,000 for his project entitled, Operation Compass Odyssey. This online technology software tool was used as a medium for sharing content-rich learning opportunities with teachers, parents and students.
Congratulations, Andy! Your continued support of the Teachers’ Center and its programs has not gone unnoticed!
